An Online Seminar on Spiritual Psychotherapy
- I offered to teach a seminar on Spiritual Psychotherapy to several local colleges and universities
but it did not fit into their program needs. I wanted to conduct an intensive local workshop for professionals and sophisticated
laypersons, but there were too many time and cost constraints. So finally I created this website for a worldwide online seminar.
The subject of Spiritual Psychotherapy is one of the primary social and personal issues for
our time. Such a topic should be of utmost interest to patients, therapists, physicians, teachers, ministers and many other
avid seekers. Since ultimately everyone is their own therapist, that is, if you have consciously begun in depth your own journey
toward self-knowledge, you may be interested in such a seminar.
The price of this seminar is honesty, allowing for the fact that all of us to some degree are
unaware and self-deceptive. And so the price for admission to this online seminar is the willingness to consider what the
positive spiritual meaning of your symptoms might be.
This online Seminar on Spiritual Psychotherapy ( www.spiritualpsychotherapy.net) is for students and teachers, for doctors and patients, and for all who
would like to address such a subject in depth. In my entire professional an personal life I have been interested in the problem
of human suffering. After 45 years of professional practice and intensive research I have written a 600 page manuscript and
established a website to discuss some of the important issues in spiritual psychotherapy which I confronted. It is my conviction
that this subject belongs in the public arena and that it is not the territory of any one profession, philosophy, religion
or science.
Our entire society is reaching the limits of what we can expect to accomplish in the area of
psychotherapy, unless we take the next leap into the spiritual domain. This domain concerns the realm of divine and human
imagination. I do not mean to say that we cannot proliferate further discoveries and information in the area of human potential,
but while we have made significant advances in our understanding of human nature, we have come to an impasse in our ability
to diagnose and treat human problems unless we make some decisive and deliberate ventures into our spirituality.
Spiritual psychotherapy has to pioneer the way into the clouded area of human suffering and
symptoms because unless our leaders understand the parameters of this next level of consciousness evolution, they will continue
to re-create the same problems and smarter bugs. Spiritual Psychotherapy must become the concern of everyone in our society,
and not just a few limited special interest groups. People everywhere are frustrated with the limitations about the way we
address human problems. It is my observation that we have mis-diagnosed and mis-treated most of our human problems. Correct
diagnosis and treatment cannot be made without spiritual awareness because we are spiritual beings. Whether we like it or
not, whether we acknowledge it or not, we are spiritual beings. We are not merely human beings, intellectual beings, emotional
beings, social beings, physical beings. Spirituality (imagination) undergirds, interfuses, and energizes all areas of human
functioning, either for our advantate or disadvantage. Spirituality has remained vague, hidden and unconscious, partly because
we have lacked the insight and language to address our own inner world. Language has been used mainly to designate the outer
world. Arguments about who is right about spirituality have not helped much either.
To break through repression and exclusivism we have to develop a more universal language and
vision of what spirituality is. Such conversations will require our best minds and most intuitive geniuses for the next 100
years. However, some tools to research human potentiality have already been given to us. Can we afford to avoid this subject
any longer just because it is controversial and threatening to many of the vested interests of religious establishments and
psychotherapeutic territorialism?
Spiritual psychotherapy does not belong to any particular religion, science, or therapeutic school. Therapy belongs to humanity
and continued territorialism does not help. In spite of all of our military and professional police forces, it took an ordinary
truck driver to spot the Washington sniper. Various movements like AA have probably made just as significant a contribution
to the topic of spirituality as any of the more scientific, religious or professional groups. God speaks to those who listen
and do their homework on themselves. In this online seminar we would discuss the two doors that lead into self-knowledge:
the Door of Revelation and the Door of Symptoms. Both are necessary and pertinent to this critical topic for out times.
- Who is qualified to benefit most from this website and from the forum? This website and this
forum is for those who want to learn how to know the inner truth about themselves; for pretenders who want to get real with
themselves; for victims who want to wake up to their self-deception; for manipulators who haven't felt successful and fulfilled
with such tactics; for prisoners who want to escape their self-made traps; for the ill who want healing from sick thinking;
for the broken hearted who want to get over their inmost grief; for the secretive who are victimized by their secrets; for
those stuck in non-forgiveness of themselves; for those who are tired of the outward rat-race because they have lost track
of what it is really about; for those who are bored with their worn out scripts; for those burned out with outward religion
and consumerism; for those tired of playing the losing game of oneupmanship; for people who suffer with the pain of betrayal
and want to know more precisely where that pain is coming from; for those have reached the limits of the blame/shame game;
for those whose jobs have become meaningless because they don't realize their real mission; for those stuck in self-induced
frustrating relationships; for those would-be rescuers who are constantly feeling ineffective; for those who are struggling
with other types of intractible symptoms; and for those who are ready for the next big step in consciousness. If you can't
honestly say to yourself that you have at least three of these qualifications, why bother with a Spiritual Psychotherapy Seminar
or Forum?
